changing my job as a script language programmer to compiled language programmer, i need more computing power. when you are a script programmer, what you need is only dual monitors for programming and testing simultaneously. all works are swiftly done by F5, or enter command and see the results. but when you have to compile your program, you have to wait a moment for check the result. this discontinuity makes programming dull seriously. you just can’t focus programming only. so compile time must be less than 4 or 5 secs. below 2 secs is highly recommended, because that circumstance, there are no difference in compiled language and script language in actual meaning.
when you buy a new pc, you had better not to consider cost/performance. because you have to use your pc more than 3 or more years. if you select the highest cost/performance machine, you can use it for 3 or 4 years at best. but if you pay 20% more, you can use it 1 or 2 years more. and the 3 years with best c/p machine isn’t much pleasant compared to expensive one (of course, you can upgrade when you want. but when 3 years passed upgrade becomes expensive nearly same as buying new one. no parts in pc market goes 3 years.) so cost performance has little meaning in pc market. i recommend one or two level higer model than best c/p machine.
but it’s not a good time to buy a new pc. because conroe and 64bit cpu which will prevail next several years is just released. new 64bit os is not prepared. new 64bit softwares, too. you have to wait at least 1 year more for full 64bit computing. quad cpu will be launched at 2008, i assume. so it’s not a considerable one at this moment. there are two reasonable choices, one is buying a best c/p machine at october. at present conroe cpu’s stock is not stable. second is waiting OS X Leopard and new macbook pro. it will be released Q2, 2007.
do you know what i’ll choose? i don’t know, too. the leopard and core 2 duo will satisfy me, i assure. but i can’t wait that much. the most happy case is buying new development machine by the compay’s money, it will not be easy.. anyway, i have to wait some more..
i bought the english brand paul smith’s spectacles spring/summer 2006 model, in the middle of a korean trip. mine’s somewhat darker than this one, but also cool! the price of glasses is very cheap in korea, so i love kroea!
i buy new 20" LCD monitor, today. it supports 1600×1200. and just 40,000 Yen. therefore, i can work in my room from now. i want to make new applicaions. i have to add bit-torrent support pages and japanese mobile pages, and perl and ruby and php and java and db and more.. of course, i can watch the movie some what larger size. i usually watch some movies, at least more than one everyday.
in recent days, i became fat.(or i can say, fat and ugly) i realized i have to excercise. so i decided to buy new shoes for jogging and running. this shoes are just what i want. light weight, water-proof, cool design, reasonable price, and overall very comfortable shoes. (actually i bought this shoes for a half price in an outlet of hiroshima, didn’t i say it was my lucky day?)
i googled and found there’s korean shop, too. but in korea, this model is not available.. fu-fu-fu

moleskine ruled notebook, it was too expensive, i bought it 2600yen, but you can buy it $15 from amazon, damn.. quality is not bad. paper is comfortable to eyes. handy and fits well with my cross pen. most useful feature is its not-genuine-leather hard cover. yes, i like hard-cover!
my first text write down on this note is "things aren’t always going well as planned, but even the worst case, they’re not so different from what i expected first".
it takes 5 or more seconds when i test something using the splendid jUnit toolkit on my eclipse 3.2 with callisto, so now i need more cpu power for TDD. (TDD is the key of next generation development) to be focus only on development, test time should be less than 3 seconds.
i researched current cpu markets and found that soon there’ll be intel’s core duo 2 cpu, code-name conroe, ensures magnificient perfomance enhance, in 3rd quarter of 2006. but that improvement are only a story of a cpu side.
it may take two or three year for 64bit and dual or quatro core cpu market’ll be matured. this is not only for price, but also for 64bit, multi-processor support softwares including os.. (there’s few of 64bit applications in the market.)
there are many kind of problems when using 64bit cpu. do you know there’s no flash plugin for 64bit linux? only that reason, i can’t use 64 bit distribution linux now.. -_-;; kill me.. (i need itunes, flickr uploadr, MS office(excel, word, power point, onenote), and Nate On messenger for linux.. if that can be done, there’ll be no reason to use ms windows..)
it’s not a good time to buy a new pc. vista and conroe will change the market drastically. so i’d better wait for the quad cpu 
but because of the mobile limitation the cpu power is so, so.. odd is not blue-ray nor hd-dvd, also.
i bought this cdp in march, 1995. it was somewhat expensive, nearly $300, more expensive than ipod nano 4G 
there was no portable cdp in real meaning. all previous models were heavy and thick(nearly 3cm), battery time was too short about one or two hours, need extra battery pack, and very weak of shock, so couldn’t be used in a bus. before the release of d-777, all portable cdps were useless. so i as a cd collector, couldn’t help but buying d-777 in a most expensive price.
in 2000, there were plenty of good and cheap cdps, in 2006 nobody uses cdp include me i’m a ipod freak now.
all electronics are going to same way, like cdp. HD technology including tv, cdp and contents is just on the beginning stage, it’ll take 10 or more year to be stable, i guess. digital slr market is on its way, the price of full size ccd will be down to under $150 next 3 years. car-navigation systems are on development, stable version of navigation systems are released, but too expensive.. 2 or 3 years later there’ll be good and cheap solutions using Giga byte flash memory.
wait the timing to buy.. that’s a virtue of digital age.
P.S. i think windows vista released in 2007 will not become popular before every body uses 64bit cpu. it will take 2 or 3 years at least..
