KiTTY, PuTTY’s very nice clone!

i always wonder why there’s any terminal that supports transparency mode in windows. my main purpose of using mac is just using iTerm, seriously.  today, i found some good term for windows. it’s cool and cute! it is based on PuTTY 0.6, and so there’s nothing to worry about ssh terminal features ^_^

ubuntu gutsy gibbon and compiz

when you upgrade to ubuntu 7.10 from 7.4 feisty fawn, and you’re graphic card is ATI, you will face some troubles in compiz setting. there’s some workaround for installing compiz to Feisty Fawn, and it makes gusty gibbon down. i really didn’t understand what went on at first. the only way to recover is uninstall all compiz-related components and reinstall.

gusty gibbon’s very cool, i admit. but you need to wait more, for fixing internal problems. i wish new ATI drive which may be ready to be released by AMD..

itunes mp3 insertion problem

i can’t add some mp3s downloaded from internets to itunes, they were valid mp3s and can be played by any other programs, only itunes can’t treat it right.

after some googling, i found this is a problem of id3 tag, mp3s with wrong id3 tag can’t be imported,  even in a half-broken way. (wrong or invalid character encoding, i guess) i strip tags using stripID3, downloaded from here and now i listen to mp3s ! thanks greg!

though its latest release is 7.4.2, itunes still has some bugs, very critical ones for me. i think this is the policy of apple. they don’t show much interest in fixing annoying bugs, that probably takes too much development resources. they only pay attention for adding new features, and if there’s new one, they don’t need to worry about previous bugs, because there will be new bugs, too.

anyway, i can’t live without itunes!
