Koda and Tokoname on the way to Nagoya Airport

Hitting the road to pick up a guest from Nagoya Airport.

Michi-no-Eki Kouda

Kouda and tokoname.

I just stopped by here to take a break on the way. I was supposed to take the highway, but since the flight was delayed, I decided to take my time. I ended up taking the local roads, and since I was feeling a bit tired and wanted to keep an eye on the delay status—because there’s nothing to do once you’re actually waiting at the airport—I ended up visiting a place like this.

A cat

Kouda and tokoname.

Even in a place like this, there’s a cat…

Interior

Kouda and tokoname.

There’s a restaurant, but I didn’t have the time to eat…

Gift corner

Kouda and tokoname.

Some smoked nuts that they say are delicious if you try them… I didn’t bother buying any, though…

Shop menu

Kouda and tokoname.

They have curry bread, dango, and soft serve ice cream.

Hudegaki Jelly

Kouda and tokoname.

They say it’s a local jelly from this area, but the taste was pretty average…

Sunset on the way

Kouda and tokoname.

Taking the local roads allows for photos like this…

Scenery

Kouda and tokoname.

Just some random snapshots.

Aeon in Tokoname

Kouda and tokoname.

Tokoname is a city right in front of Centrair Airport, and there’s a very large Aeon mall there. Since the flight was delayed by about 3 to 4 hours and I didn’t know exactly when they’d arrive, I waited here. It’s very close to the airport, only about 10 minutes away.

Details

Kouda and tokoname.

There are various brands here, and some are so popular that I wondered, “Wait, this place is in an Aeon?”

A cat

Kouda and tokoname.

There was a huge cat right in the middle of the Aeon.

Cat front view

Kouda and tokoname.

It was seriously massive.

Cats

Kouda and tokoname.

There are so many cats. I feel like it’s worth coming here just to see the cats.

Nihon-ichi

Kouda and tokoname.

Maybe because it’s a large Aeon, Nihon-ichi—which I thought only sold skewers—also sells karaage and set meals. This is why the bigger Aeon malls are worth visiting…
