Gordon & MacPhail JIS Glenburgie 19 Year Old 1997, 57.0%

Whiskey cafe.

This is a whisky released a long time ago, and bottles like this aren’t easy to find anymore. With G&M and JIS, two giants of the independent bottling world, joining hands, the quality goes without saying. Even back then it was a whisky famous for being delicious. Drinking it now, the flavor is truly intense. It was a whisky full of smoothness, where you can’t feel the ABV at all, and beautiful aromas.

Honestly, I sometimes think about this. If a whisky this delicious exists in this world, what on earth is the point of Michelin.. Can there be a taste more perfect than this? The very premise is wrong.. Every standard should be measured against this.. If an absolute taste exists, it would taste like this, and every flavor should strive to arrive at this one, shouldn’t it? I suspect everyone who has drunk this whisky thinks the same thing..

Yamazaki Kogei Collection

Whiskey cafe.

This is a whisky I brought back from India a while ago, but it turns out they have it at Incheon Airport too? Apparently it rarely makes it into the airport duty-free shops but shows up at the online duty-free store. No way..

Anyway, this Yamazaki is a heavily peated Yamazaki, and while there’s no vintage shown, the character of Yamazaki is very much intact. The peat gives it a rather assertive personality, but I was able to enjoy the Yamazaki feel and drink it happily. A space where you can drink whisky like this is so precious. And so are the people you drink it with. It would be nice to have gatherings like this more often.
