What liquor a supermarket sells and at what price makes for a nice record. Look back in about ten years and it might even be a valuable resource. Anyway, I’ve been diligently snapping photos every time, though I suspect a lot of them overlap..
Cheap liquors
Surprisingly, the 10-20 yuan range is solid. China Jing Jiu, Bainian Hutu, 53-proof Taiwan kaoliang and so on.. perfectly drinkable liquor for really cheap. I guess this is the power of China. But Jiang Xiaobai is a liquor with no real flavor, like Korean soju.. why on earth do they sell it at a premium just because the design is pretty..
Other liquors
Xiaolang Jiu, Maopu Kuqiao Jiu, Niulanshan, Erguotou and the like seem to be popular. Among these, Xiaolang Jiu is a sauce-aroma baijiu, but the sauce aroma isn’t strong, so some people apparently drink only this one on purpose. Decent-quality liquor at low prices.
Liquors
Fenjiu is also cheap. In terms of popularity alone, I doubt much beats Fenjiu, so this value for money is astonishing..
A variety of liquors
There’s some pricier Fenjiu too.
Premium Maopu Kuqiao Jiu
So many liquors I’d like to try.
Another supermarket
Looking at liquor prices overall, the cheap stuff is incredibly cheap and the expensive stuff is incredibly expensive. I’ll be focusing on the cheap and tasty ones.. (Though the truly cheap and tasty baijiu is actually at Incheon Airport..)
