Ganddeokbo in Beomgye, Anyang

Somehow I ended up in Anyang… life is unpredictable… Ganddeokbo is short for ganjang gejang (soy-marinated raw crab), tteokgalbi (grilled minced short rib patties), and bori gulbi (barley-aged dried yellow croaker). A place that does all three well? It turned out to be a solid spot like that.

Front entrance

I don’t know this neighborhood well, but it seems pretty tucked away, and I wonder whether it’s okay to open such an upscale restaurant here.

The spread

Side dishes

So-so…

Pot rice

The rice tastes pretty good.

Ganjang gejang

Good quality. At this level it could fairly be called a top-notch place… It’s a bit pricey, but ganjang gejang always is… If there are no other competitors in this neighborhood, I think it can hold its own just fine.

Yangnyeom gejang

This is tasty too, but the ganjang gejang seems a bit better…

Bori gulbi

Honestly, I’m not much of a bori gulbi fan… but it did come out nice and plump…

Tteokgalbi

This one has a high meat content and is nicely grilled too. It seems like a great choice for a company dinner or a family meal out.

Doenjang soup

The concept of eating premium dishes like ganjang gejang, bori gulbi, and tteokgalbi all in one place is really nice, and it’s a perfect spot for entertaining clients or a company dinner. If you’re in the area, it’s worth stopping by.
