The breakfast at the Portopia Hotel was pretty good. For starters, the view was great too.
This kind of view
You get a sweeping view of the city of Kobe, Mt. Rokko included.
Breads
Being Kobe, the city of bread, the level of the bread was high, as you’d expect.
Desserts
Lots of variety.
Cheese and salmon
There was quite a lot of decent food.
Salmon

Tsukemono (pickles)
Omelette
You can order it three different ways.
Bacon, sausages, and so on..
Looks ordinary, but there was something delicious in here. Namely, the Kobe Tamba green beans..
Vegetables
The vegetables are definitely good.
Unohana
Beans are famous around Kobe, and maybe that’s why the soy sauce, miso and so on are supposed to be good too. Apparently there are quite a few breweries as well..
Roast beef rice
They really do roast beef well here.
Omurice
Pretty good.
Roast beef rice
This one was very satisfying, as the roast beef was of really good quality. It’s not like they serve steak, but it’s breakfast, so this much is plenty.
Breakfast
The view outside
Miso soup
Apparently this uses Rokko miso too. Maybe that’s why it was so delicious.
Juice
Close-up of the Tamba white beans and pancetta stewed in tomato
This bean dish was so good I went back to take a photo. I knew Kobe was famous for bread, but who knew the beans would be this good..
Ceiling decoration on the way back
It was so nice I had to take a picture. I got to start the day with a varied, delicious and filling breakfast. If it’s this good, I couldn’t ask for more.
