Cambodia: Scenes from Phnom Penh Airport

Coming into the airport at night, well.. there isn’t much to see.

The vibe

Not much worth buying.

Inside

There weren’t many whiskies worth buying anyway.

Amazing Cambodia..

But the brands here don’t seem to be all that top-shelf.

Back in the lounge again

Though if I’m going to eat again in the lounge anyway, I wondered whether it was really worth coming out here.

Inside the airport

The airport is on the small side.

When you come back on a red-eye, it seems to take almost a week to fully recover. It’s brutal. Next time I go, I should make a point of avoiding overnight flights no matter what. Anyway.. I’ve picked up a bit of know-how for long-haul flights: if you pick an aisle seat in the very last row, there’s a little room to move your body, and you can get up and walk around now and then, so it’s better. Add a lumbar cushion, compression stockings, and a neck pillow, and it becomes quite bearable. The compression stockings and lumbar cushion turned out to be useful in everyday life too. You can actually come out of a trip with an improved daily routine. It’s best to skip the in-flight meals if you can, and you should never drink alcohol. With guidelines like these, you can survive even a long-haul flight.
