Gifts from here and there

A round-up of the various gifts I have been given lately.

White Ship tuna flakes

Desserts 202501.

Top-grade tuna gets eaten as sashimi and the lower grades end up in cans, and this one is made from tuna that is a cut above the rest of that lower grade. Apparently it works nicely in something like a sandwich.

Melatheanine Night

Desserts 202501.

It is a plant-based melatonin, and I bought it after hearing that it puts you to sleep without any real side effects. Turns out there are side effects, though. Sometimes the tiredness carries over into the daytime after I take it. Still, it seems fine for occasional use when jet lag or the like has you struggling.

Mealtop

Desserts 202501.

To think my beloved Mealtop has come to this… I had heard the rumours that it had gone under, mind you…

Nikka whisky

Desserts 202501.

They are the cheap end of the range, but they do get imported into Korea… Buying at this price is a bit much, though…

Jenny Bakery cookies

Desserts 202501.

Someone back from a business trip to Hong Kong brought these over, and they taste like a posh butter cookie. They are good, but I do not think they are worth queueing for… Apparently they sell them on Coupang too, so you may as well just buy them there.

Andong Guksu Sohojeong

Desserts 202501.

The noodles had a proper chew to them and the broth was rich, so it was tasty. They could go a little easier on the pepper, though…

Omegi-tteok

Desserts 202501.

Someone back from Jeju brought these over, and they are pretty decent. The tangerine one and the rest feel like well-judged twists on the original. The price is not bad either, and they come individually wrapped, so they make a solid choice for a gift.
