17°C, a Chocolate Cafe in Hongdae

I went by the place where 17°C used to be, and it was gone. So I looked it up, and it turns out they moved in April 2024 to a spot closer to Hongik University Station. That actually makes it easier to get to, but the problem is that since the move the place has been packed… you have to put your name down on CatchTable, the Korean reservation app, and wait before you can get in. Still, it was nice to see a shop I used to go to often doing so well.

The entrance

Very clean, and it looks like they got bigger.

The kitchen

Simple.

Chocolates

Chocolate cake

Today’s picks: chocolate bingsu, omija tea and chocolates

The chocolate bingsu I ordered as a matter of course is shaved ice you absolutely have to eat in summer, and the omija ade – a sweet-tart drink made from schisandra berries – did a fine job of cutting through the bingsu’s rich chocolate with something crisp and refreshing. The Earl Grey and raspberry chocolates I ordered on the side had such deep, elegant aromas and flavors that I ordered more. I was worried after the move brought in bigger crowds, but the food seems to have gotten even better.

A note asking for your cooperation

It’s a popular place, so I guess that’s why this went up.
