Chao bamboo is a Thai restaurant right in the middle of Harajuku. It is very popular, so the problem is that if you turn up late you can be waiting a while for a table.

It is mostly young people who come here, so I did wonder whether a table of middle-aged blokes was spoiling the mood.

Pretty similar to menbosha, the Chinese-style shrimp toast.

The cooking is not bad, but it is very carb-heavy. Maybe that is just what a street full of young people is like. It is fun in its own way, since you spot people who look like models while you eat, but middle-aged guys should probably hold back.

There used to be some genuinely shabby buildings around here, but it feels like it keeps getting tidier.
On, for instance
I only found out this time round, but apparently a brand called On is very popular. There is nobody here because they had already closed for the day; during opening hours you have to queue to get in.

Shibuya has changed a lot too. Even the places I thought would never change do change, given enough time.
