Patisserie Mirage in Hamamatsu

A place called Patisserie Mirage opened up, so I went along. I’ve been several times now, so I’m putting it all in one post.

Roughly what the place looks like

Patisserie mirage.

The door is huge and hefty, and it looks great.

The cafe inside

Patisserie mirage.

The garden inside

Patisserie mirage.

They seem to be going for a Kyoto sort of atmosphere.

The entrance

Patisserie mirage.

Seen from here it really is big.

The baked sweets

Patisserie mirage.

The cakes

Patisserie mirage.

They look like a cut above.

Cream puff

Patisserie mirage.

This cream puff seems to be the house speciality, and eating one, it’s packed with cream flecked with vanilla seeds. Delicious.

The kitchen inside

Patisserie mirage.

It’s enormous, and in fact there’s a wedding hall right next door to Patisserie Mirage, and the shop is run by them. So I suspect they operate at a scale that can handle bulk orders too.

The cakes

Patisserie mirage.

They really do make them beautifully.

Ambre (crystallised sugar candy)

Patisserie mirage.

It looks pretty, but I wasn’t sure whether it would taste good, so…

The baked sweets

Patisserie mirage.

The cakes on another day

Patisserie mirage.

It feels like a higher standard than most department store food halls.

Coffee

Patisserie mirage.

They’ve put a lot of care into the interior too.

The picks of the day

Patisserie mirage.

Everything was good. The chocolate one in particular was mint flavoured, the kind of thing the enthusiasts go for. That said, it isn’t quite at the level of Tokyo’s top-tier patissiers. Still, having a place this good nearby is something to be grateful for.
