Yaizu Sakana Center in Yaizu, Shizuoka

Search for Yaizu and the Yaizu Sakana Center always comes up. Yaizu has a fairly sizeable port, and all kinds of fish are landed there – tuna, sakura shrimp, shirasu and so on.

It is big. Looks like a lot of tourists come here as well.

There is a large restaurant near the entrance selling all sorts of things. That said, there are plenty of places to eat inside the market too, so you do not really have to eat here.

The mood is a bit different from the bustling fish markets in Korea. A market aimed at tourists, I suppose.

This place has plenty of lavish kaisendon as well. Then again, I eat seafood often enough as it is, so I do wonder whether it is worth coming all the way here for it.

Maguro-don and Yaizu ramen

Shida-kei is a regular shoyu, but the ramen actually called Yaizu ramen is apparently a bit richer and has katsuobushi in it. Next time I should look for a place like that.

I thought about buying something, but since I had not come by car, hauling it home was awkward. I will have to wait for the next chance.
