Yabaton, the tonkatsu place at Nagoya Airport

I had a meal at Yabaton right after landing.

Miso katsu

It’s the most basic thing on the menu.

The inside

The fat level is just right so it’s easy to eat, but the miso sauce is sweet after all and doesn’t quite suit my taste. I think this much miso katsu is enough for one lifetime.

Rice

An assortment of condiments

The entrance

If you’re lucky, you can walk in at a moment when nobody is queuing.

Meiho Ham

It’s a speciality of the Gifu area, and this ham is tasty enough that I often buy some to take home. This time I tried the pork sausage, and it had just the right bounce to it, a real treat. It’s fairly cheap too. If Meiho Ham is the kind of thing you can eat just as it is, the pork sausage is better grilled.

Umauma Juicy-kun Hamburg

I don’t know if you’ve heard of Yuru Camp, but it’s a manga that’s also an anime. The Juicy-kun Hamburg is the one introduced in that manga as a 100% beef hamburg, and I’d call it a local speciality that those in the know know about. Frozen food like this doesn’t seem easy to get hold of unless you’re there in person. I think I’ll get the chance to tell the story behind the Juicy-kun Hamburg in detail some other time, but at any rate, they say it tastes good.
