I’m not sure why, but there are quite a few gimbap places with a queue outside around Bangbae-dong. This Haenam Wonjo Gimbap is one of them.
A place like this
Maybe because it’s so popular, the stream of people never let up.
The rolls are made up in advance.
The system is that you pay and take one straight away. Only a gimbap shop selling this well could pull that off, I suppose.
The menu
I bought the yubu gimbap (fried tofu), which was marked BEST, and the wasabi tuna gimbap.
Yubu gimbap
It was on the sweet side, so it was just so-so for me.
Wasabi tuna gimbap
This one wasn’t bad either, but I did wonder whether it’s worth coming all the way over for. Just because it was a gimbap place that sold well back in the day, whether it suits today’s palate feels like something worth thinking about. Keto gimbap might be the slightly better choice, is what I mean..
