Im Byeong-ju Sandong Kalguksu in Yangjae

Im Byeong-ju Sandong Kalguksu is famous around the neighborhood as one of those places people line up for.

The place

Sandong kalguksu.

This is the entrance.

Inside

Sandong kalguksu.

It sits on the second floor, in a pretty roomy space.

Kimchi

Sandong kalguksu.

Exactly the kind of kimchi you want at a kalguksu place. It’s tasty, so I kept reaching for more.

Kongguksu

Sandong kalguksu.

The kongguksu is what they’re known for, so I ordered it, and the portion is no joke.

Noodles

Sandong kalguksu.

It’s enough to cover a whole day’s worth of carbs in one sitting.. The taste is just okay, but the shame is that if you come alone and eat only the kongguksu, you’re already stuffed. I’d want to order something like mandu on the side too, for example, but coming on your own that seems pretty much impossible. And if you ask whether the kongguksu alone is satisfying, that’s iffy as well. I think this is a good place for a family to come and eat their fill.
