Slow-aging ramen

Slow aging seems to be the big trend, so I’m going along with it, and it doesn’t taste bad at all. Lentils in particular don’t need soaking, so they’re easy to cook, and they keep about a week in the fridge.

Cotton Foot “Balssak Ssitja”, which I picked up to try..

The cleaning power is definitely there, but it’s harsher than I expected and it left my skin worse for wear.. so I’ll be using it on things other than my feet..

I finally made it to the flagship store, and the atmosphere is no joke. The interior is done up in genuinely luxurious style too. That said, given where it is, if you want to drop in often the Shinsegae branch is probably the better bet.

It’s an oden place in Seocho, and the mood looks so good that I keep meaning to go, but the chance never comes up. Getting to even one good restaurant means lining up several people’s schedules, so it’s not easy.

The Misik juicy shrimp gyoza

The thing about that juice is that it’s basically fat, so when a dumpling is too full of it, it turns greasy. It’s tricky to cook, too.. if I were a bit younger I might have enjoyed it.

Sunsun Sponge

I bought it because I heard it’s a big seller in Japan. And, well, it’s good? It’s the type that puffs right up when you open it, it doesn’t fall apart even after long use, and it drains well. Items like this are the ones that genuinely make life easier.

It looked like it had gotten a lot fancier, so I took a photo.

This is the chestnut yokan sold at Aoyagi Seika in Mukojima, Asakusa, Tokyo.

The name was a bit long, but you can think of it as a very high-end chestnut yokan. BIBI’s song “Bam Yang Gang” (chestnut yokan) was a hit around this time, so I picked one up.

Eating it, it really was a yokan with a soft texture and a sweetness kept properly in check. It had an elegant, upscale flavor, perfect as a snack over a cup of tea with friends on a quiet afternoon. With chestnut yokan this good, breaking up with someone over not being bought one is honestly fair enough..
