Suage, a soup curry specialist in Gangnam

A soup curry specialist that’s famous in Sapporo has opened several branches in Korea. I have no idea why on earth, but as long as it tastes good, who cares..

The place

Right in the middle of Gangnam Station. The world really has gotten better.

Inside

I took the photo while nobody was there, but it filled up in no time.

The menus

A very standard Japanese-style soup curry.

Chicken skewer curry

When people think of soup curry, most picture the chicken leg version, but I ordered the skewers. Because I’m an old guy, that’s why..

Eating it, I found that every piece of the fresh ingredients had been given its own touch of charcoal smoke. It’s a style you rarely see here in Korea. Compared to ordinary chicken skewers it’s the leaner, more substantial type, and at this level it would go just fine with a drink.. On top of that it comes with hot soup, so even a gukbap-addicted old guy couldn’t help being satisfied. Seems like a great place for a bowl on a cold winter day..

Rice

It was a really good meal. The only thing is that you don’t order at a kiosk — they hand you a sheet of paper and a pen, proper Japanese style, which threw me off a little.. Though maybe that’s the charm of it.
