à la ringo
This one was over on the Umeda side. It’s an Aomori candy-apple shop — I had one a while back and it was so good, and it turns out they have a branch in Osaka too.
The good apples were already all sold out.
They sell tarte Tatin too.
It wasn’t quite as good as I’d expected..
Expo 2025 character
It’s a slightly suspicious-looking character, but it seems to be reasonably popular inside Japan.
The queue at 551 Horai..
I came to Shin-Osaka Station to catch the Shinkansen, and pretty much all the famous places are gathered here. But the queues were long everywhere.. If I’d known, I would have come earlier and got in line, but that’s not easy on a short schedule.
The queue at Rikuro Ojisan
It’s like they sell as naturally as breathing.. Seeing this, I really think they built the station well.. Daejeon could stand to take a few notes.

Kukuru’s line isn’t all that long, but I’ve already had it, so I didn’t feel like going in.
Kushikatsu
I didn’t expect kushikatsu here as well.. It really seems like everything Osaka is famous for is here.

Ganko Sushi
This is another place that represents Osaka, and they’re all gathered here.
There’s Kamukura too.
This one was big and had quite a lot of seats. It made me wonder how they managed to pack this much of Osaka’s essence into a station.
Cookie Monster chocolate chip cookies
They’re made by the venerable Morinaga, so they were pretty decent. You could call this a fusion of the real world and a cartoon universe.

Porcini-scented mushroom risotto
There was no way I wasn’t buying this.
The contents
The porcini aroma was really lovely. The taste brought back memories of Kinopio’s Cafe.
