Fuudo Delivery Michi-no-Eki Uzushio Awajishima onion curry udon
Awajishima is right next door to the Shikoku region, so it is famous for udon and famous for onions too, and I had high hopes — it is good. The broth in particular, with all that onion sweetness melted into it, was the real deal, the kind of taste that makes you want to tip rice into it.
Potato Chips Luxurious Chocolat
Well.. so basically it is the budget version of ROYCE’ potato chips.
Calbee Beni Haruka Chips
All they did was deep-fry thickly sliced beni haruka sweet potato, yet it felt like eating a finished dessert. Each piece is small, but it was good to snack on. It is a winter-only limited edition, so if you do not buy it quickly it is hard to get hold of.
Bourbon Petit Prime rich shrimp senbei
It is just so-so.
suage soup curry flavour fried potato
Japan really does have a lot of unusual potato chips, and this one is a collaboration with suage, famous for soup curry in Hokkaido. The shop has opened in Korea too. I was not expecting much, but it reproduces the soup curry flavour surprisingly well and went nicely with beer.
Lake Hamana nori-shio potato
It is just so-so. Seaweed really is best in Korea, I suppose..
Rummy
It is winter, so I have to have one..
A drink from Chocott
They sell this sort of thing too, apparently..
Chocolate Effect 72%
I bought it because it is supposed to be good for you somehow, but it was nothing special..
Sapporo miso ramen’s Sanpi Ryoron collaboration
It is a Sapporo Ichiban collaboration cup ramen made with a Michelin-starred chef, and it was quite good. There is ginger in it and sea bream broth too, so the taste was a little upmarket. I tried to buy it again, but it was a limited edition and I could not find any.
Suntory The Premium Malt’s limited brew
Nothing special, as I remember..
Kanzen Meshi Karamucho
However good for you something is, it is a problem if it does not taste good.
Fujiya’s Peanuts Shukan cacao 70%
It has plenty of peanuts in it so the taste is very good, but whether it is actually good for you, I have no idea..
Donbei tempura soba, North: the gentle sweetness of Rishiri kombu
The noodles in this soba are thin and the broth is delicate, so it was good. They seem to be running an east-west-south-north series, and since north means Hokkaido, the flavour really does stand out.
Hokkaido ramen showcase, three dishes from famous shops
It is a fresh ramen pack that gathers the ramen of three famous Hokkaido shops. I have not eaten all of them, but they seem good enough. Only the noodles and the soup come in the box, though, so any arranging is up to you.
Usukawa raisin custard cream bread
The thin-skin series is a bread I like, and the raisin custard cream one is literally a bun with raisins and cream in it. It was pretty good.
Calbee hard potato chips, enchanting mentaiko flavour
Not everything turns delicious just because you put mentaiko in it, but this one tasted good as a drinking snack. At this level I would call it a success.
Donbei sundubu-jjigae udon
I tend to buy anything Korea-related that comes out and try it, but, hmm.. Donbei’s soba line has a lot of good ones, while the udon line is not necessarily the same..
Calbee Zeppin Kappa Ebisen, Seto salt and scallop adductor flavour
The Calbee Zeppin Kappa Ebisen series tends to be satisfying, and this one has a good salty kick plus the umami of scallop, so it felt like a premium version of the ordinary Kappa Ebisen. I like it, but I hardly ever see it around..
Bourbon’s Hi-Blend Cacao 70
The truth is that every snack Bourbon puts out is at least above average, so I just bought it without thinking. The taste is fine, and at 70% there is no helping that it is a little sweet.
Donbei high-protein PRO kitsune udon
Donbei has released a version with high-protein noodles. Honestly, I could not tell any difference in taste from the regular Donbei.. the taste is the same but with fewer carbohydrates, so I thought it would be good for dieting. Everyone seems to be going low-carb.
