I’m not sure the way I write paulie’s in Korean is right — it comes out as “police”, and police makes me think of the cops.. Anyway, I had a great time at Cimer in the Paradise Hotel Incheon, and when I came out to get something to eat — disaster.. I couldn’t get into any of the decent places.. Bongpiyang included, they were already fully booked. So I wandered around, spotted a pizza place, and walked in without thinking twice.

It was nice and spacious and there was no queue, so I could walk straight in.

This oven is enormous. Even compared with the wood-fired ovens in Italy it’s several times bigger — this is the real thing..

The salad was pretty good too.

Pizza

They call it New York style pizza, and it looks and tastes like an Italian pizza scaled up 1.5 times. The toppings are more generous than on an Italian pizza and the ingredients are familiar ones, so it felt only natural that New York pizza would taste better. It was my first proper New York pizza and I loved it. It made me wonder whether this was the pizza I’d been after all along. Well.. faithful to the basics, piled with ingredients, and baked fresh in the oven — there’s no way it could taste bad..

I ate very well. It even made me want to go to New York once and eat pizza there.. In all sorts of ways it turned into a place that left a deep impression.
