Tatsunoko Ramen in Hamamatsu

We only meant to pop into Place Mange and head straight back, but it turned out to be farther than expected (the navigation wasn’t doing a great job of showing us the way..) so we decided to eat somewhere nearby. The place we ended up at was Tatsunoko Ramen.

It’s such a popular spot that parking is a bit of a challenge..

Looks like the owner’s hobby, and it is seriously huge..

Well, the place is packed..

Menu

Tatsunoko ramen.

There’s ramen, gyoza and chahan.

Gyoza

Tatsunoko ramen.

Hamamatsu is such a famous gyoza town that the basics are rock solid.

Moyashi ramen

The bean sprouts have a crisp snap to them, and you only get that flavour when the wok work is done properly.. they really do make it well..

Chahan

Tatsunoko ramen.

The fried rice is a work of art.. so that’s why the line was so long..

The soup that comes with the chahan

Tatsunoko ramen.

Spooning the chahan into the soup tastes incredible..

Hiyashi chuka

Tatsunoko ramen.

It was on the summer special menu so I gave it a try, and that tangy flavour is superb.

The gyotaku on the other side

We were just about the last ones to finish and leave, so I got the chance to photograph it.

We really did get to eat some outstanding ramen. I could see it being especially popular with families.
