July 2023: Scenes from Hamamatsu and Kosai

Just putting up a few photos I snapped without much thought.

The Pacific

Scenaries 202305.

The horizon

Scenaries 202305.

Yogibo

Scenaries 202305.

Yogibo looked pretty good, so I bought one, but the smell was awful… I really did not see that coming… I did not notice it at all in the showroom, though…

A tree

Scenaries 202305.

The egg section at the supermarket

Scenaries 202305.

157 yen… whereas back in Korea it runs about 4,000 won…

The athletic park

Scenaries 202305.

A place where you can do all sorts of activities… the kids love it. The adults do not have the stamina for it, though…

Sleepy Tofu

Scenaries 202305.

It’s a Taiwanese mattress.

Here’s what’s inside…

Scenaries 202305.

It really did look like a block of tofu. It was so cute that I bought one, but it was not durable enough, so I ended up returning it.

The sea

Scenaries 202305.

A bridge

Scenaries 202305.

The harbor

Scenaries 202305.

Lotus flowers

Scenaries 202305.

The road up to the middle school

Scenaries 202305.

The one in front is a historic stone monument, a Russo-Japanese War memorial. Monuments like this went up all over the country to honor the soldiers who won that war. It shows you just how big an impact the Russo-Japanese War had on Japan. In Korea we simply learn it as “the Sino-Japanese War, and then the Russo-Japanese War,” but for Japan, the country actually fighting it, it was the war that gave them the pride of having stood up to the West and won.

Scenery of Kosai

Scenaries 202305.

A school up on the hillside

Scenaries 202305.

The walk to school cannot be easy…

The sky

Scenaries 202305.

Fields

Scenaries 202305.

Bontoraya

Scenaries 202305.

Maybe because Kosai is so close to Aichi, Bontoraya has made its way out here.

Brazil

Scenaries 202305.

Turns out a lot of Brazilians live around here.

A rice paddy

Scenaries 202305.

The neighborhood

Scenaries 202305.

Lake Sanaru Park

Scenaries 202305.

A squirrel

Scenaries 202305.

Having a park where nature is properly looked after really does make a place nice to live in.
