I doubt the name Toyohashi rings a bell for anyone… it sits at the far edge of Aichi Prefecture, close to Shizuoka, and it was the setting for the Japanese drama “Minna! Esper Dayo!” (Everyone Is an Esper!). I did enjoy the show… but that is not why I went, I just went. I was curious what the place was like.

Nicely put together… Aichi is a fairly well-off part of the country, after all. But there was no department store anywhere… which makes me think Hamamatsu really is a bit special.

Bronco Billy
Well, I never expected to run into a Bronco Billy out here… Toyohashi turned out to be a textbook small provincial Japanese city. Even so, it is tidy and well kept, and the scenery is beautiful… To think a drama like that came out of a place like this… it felt kind of surreal.
