The Mega Don Quijote in Hamamatsu

It’s not that I’m a big fan of Don Quijote, but I’d heard that Mega Donki carries fresh food too — fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and so on — on top of everything a regular Donki has, so I got curious.

It’s a newly opened store, but it turns out they took over a supermarket that had gone under. What surprised me, though, is that they clearly didn’t spend a yen on the exterior. No renovation worth calling a renovation — it feels like they just poured everything into the products.

It has that Donki atmosphere, and they even sell camping gear. Mega Donki indeed

It’s definitely roomy, and the products are fun to look through.

They sell Jack and Coke too.

There was more variety than I expected and the prices weren’t bad at all. I figured a store like this can hold its own.

What stuck with me was just how many Don Quijote private-brand products there were, and with so many quirky items around it was a great place to kill time. The Donki concept works out in the provinces too, apparently.
