Lately I’ve been going back and forth over what I should be eating for my health, and I reckon the most important thing is to eat a bit of everything without racking up the calories. Which is how I landed on staff canteens.
The entrance
At lunchtime the queue is pretty long. The appeal, I think, is that you get to eat buffet-style for 5,500 won, which is unheard of in this neighbourhood.
Inside
The meal
I’ve eaten here a few times, and it’s definitely nice to be able to load up on vegetables. That said, depending on the menu and the day of the week, the nutritional balance can be off. It’s cheap, so fair enough, I suppose, but it is a staff canteen, and I do think it ought to look after the people who eat there every day. There is another place over by Gangnam Station, but I’ve found that just buying a well-packaged salad and spreading it over a few days has much the same effect, so that’s what I’ve ended up doing.
