Kooksoondang Chilsung Maksa, makgeolli mixed with Chilsung Cider
I have never actually drunk maksa, and I do not really understand why anyone would, but since they put it out as a product I gave it a go. It is not even somaek, soju and beer, so I still cannot see the point of maksa.. not for me, then..
Onion ramyun
This one is good too. A deep onion sweetness.
Japchae
Nice and easy to eat.
Spaghetti
Hmm.. there was too much ramyun flavour in it to call it spaghetti.. a bit of an in-between style.
Beurre butter caramel cone
It looked unusual, so I bought one.
Oh dear..
Delicious. It is butter with caramel in it, so it would be strange if it were not tasty. Probably the best of the collaborations that have come out lately.
silka
It was on a one-plus-one deal so I picked one up, and it is ordinary. It is cheap, so no complaints.
Plain milk ice cream
A rich milk flavour. It does not taste bad, but whether it needs to cost that much is another matter.. the way prices are these days, there is nothing left worth eating.
Samseon jjamppong, Gonghwachun
There is a slightly upmarket feel to the flavour.
Wangttukkeong Mini
A Wangttukkeong with no lid and not even big, when the name literally means king lid! This is exactly what I have been wanting.. no lid to bother throwing away, and the portion is just right. Wangttukkeong quietly has a lot of fans; it has a sharp, throat-catching heat that works as a soju snack too.. perfect for a drinker the morning after.. I am glad the mini exists, but it does not seem to be sold in many places.
Patbingsu
Ordinary.
Crystal glasses
I heard Daiso was selling whisky glasses for 2,000 won so I went to have a look, and they were not easy to find. I managed to track some down near Hapjeong in the end. Anyway, having used them, they are good for the price. There are a few differences compared with the original, but I cannot taste any difference in the whisky itself.. buying a few to keep for guests seems like a good idea.
Ojingeo somyeon, shredded dried squid
One of my favourite items, and it turns out Daiso sells it too.
Seolhongmyeon
I had no idea the dadaegi paste would be that hot. I should have used only half of it, my mistake.. flavour-wise it feels like an upgraded Sari Gomtang Myun.
Tom yum goong ramyun
Just ordinary.
Gunsan jjamppong cup noodles
This one is good too, and it makes me want to go to Gunsan and eat jjamppong there for real.
Uni-jjajang
It tasted surprisingly proper, actually. Well made. The trouble with The Misik is always the price, though.. if I am paying this much I may as well just go to a Chinese restaurant.
Sokcho red snow crab stir-fried noodles
The red snow crab part is good, but it was a bit too spicy.
Canned saba
A can of miso-cured mackerel that works well as a drinking snack. You can heat it up or eat it straight from the can, and it is good either way.
