This area is hot these days — knowledge industry centres are going up, people are commuting to them, and apartment blocks are shooting up all around. Though the apartment prices do seem a bit steep for the level of the companies working here.

Had a drink at the Express Bus Terminal.

There really was an enormous amount of construction going on, and I doubt they will have any trouble finishing it.. but whether all these buildings will actually fill up is another matter. In the end, companies get founded because stocks go up and IPOs take off, and once people who struck it rich on investments are everywhere, plenty more want to join the queue.. At some point the boom dies, the companies that would have moved into these centres disappear, and the apartments around them go unsold — you can see it coming. Still, under Korea’s pre-sale system the money has already been collected and the building is going ahead regardless. Either way, it is not my problem to worry about..

Around this time there were people on YouTube spouting nonsense like “there are no cranes in the Seoul sky, there is no supply, so apartment prices cannot possibly fall”.. and I see they are back at it lately.. When you have a living to make, shame is a luxury..
