I happened to hear about a place famous for its kakigori (shaved ice), so I went to check it out.
This is the place..
A neat, tidy little cafe.
The sign
Apparently the soki soba and the shaved ice are what it is known for.
Roughly this sort of vibe..
The shaved ice they serve at Kafu
There really are a lot of varieties.
Soki soba
Soki soba noodles feel like something about halfway between ramen and udon. You could say they are a bit like the gogi guksu of Jeju Island. The well-simmered meat broth with a faint hint of ginger was so good. I doubt it is easy to eat soki soba this good even in Okinawa.
Inside
Shaved ice
Mint-flavoured shaved ice
Melon shaved ice
The shaved ice is high level too. The ice just melts away on the tongue. It really feels like everywhere you go these days there are more and more places operating at this level.
