I picked a proper restaurant for lunch too. Getting a reservation wasn’t easy.
Here’s the place
A notice saying they’re fully booked with reservations today
Soy milk La France
I ordered a cocktail to drink and it was surprisingly good. The sweetness of the La France pear goes really well with soy milk.
Grape juice
Hmm… it’s a rich, concentrated grape juice, so I’m not sure how well it pairs with the meal.
Pomegranate ginger
This one is refreshing and tasty.
Yuba soba set
You’d think yuba cuisine would be bland, but they make the most of Kyoto’s ingredients and serve it up deliciously. The soba is good quality too.
Yuzu set
This one also makes great use of Kyoto ingredients.
Roast beef set
Everything is high quality.
It was all good, but I’d overeaten the night before, had a late breakfast on top of that, went back for a second bowl of rice… and I hadn’t done much sightseeing either, so by the time of my 11:30 reservation I was completely full and simply couldn’t enjoy the flavours. This place isn’t cheap either, so the portions are quite substantial. For my last lunch I should have gone somewhere that wasn’t a destination restaurant, or skipped breakfast altogether… I just didn’t pace myself well.
Dessert…
I ate lightly and got ready to head to Kyoto Station.
I’m posting the menu below for reference if you visit.
