I ended up spending Christmas 2021 in Japan, and since sitting around doing nothing would just be boring, I went out and bought up a pile of Christmas food.

Farmer’s Chicken
Today’s mission was to buy the chicken you eat at Christmas.. this is supposedly the most famous place in the neighborhood, so I came by, only to find you had to queue for two hours.. what on earth do Japanese people have against chicken legs..
So I went to Ginza Mitsukoshi instead.

An oden shop in Tsukiji
They sell oden simmered with Dassai, and they were open even on Christmas.

The Mosaic series was so good.. Infiniment feels like it is missing something.

The oden here is genuinely delicious, the problem being that there is no system keeping that quality consistent..

Chicken leg
So apparently this is a branded chicken seasoned with soy sauce, and the taste is not bad and the price makes sense, but the bone is so big that a chicken leg does not amount to much meat.. if the leg had been all I brought home, it would have made for a terribly lonely Christmas. Looks like I got through 2021 in one piece too.
