Yagwanmun (Chinese bush clover)
There are all sorts of yagwanmun out there — the harvest time matters, and if it has been washed before drying you don’t have to wash it again later.. so I bought a bit of everything. The batches that were properly washed, freshly harvested and dried with the flowers still on do seem to work better.. though I’m honestly not sure the difference is all that big.. Anyway, on days when I’m not feeling great I boil some up with jujubes.
Chamomile
Chamomile came up on Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha as being good for insomnia.. so I bought some to try myself, and buying it from overseas, the quantity is no joke. A café is probably the right place for a bag this size, and it feels a bit big for home use — but brewing proper loose tea like this, the flavour comes out on a completely different level from a tea bag..
Peppermint
Buying just one thing makes the shipping feel like a waste, so I got peppermint as well.. and this is a serious amount too.. enough that I want to give some away..
Tangerine peel tea
I washed the tangerines well, dried the peel and brewed it as tea, and it had a pretty nice flavour. It takes a bit of work, but it would be good to drink every winter. The white pith has a lot of off-flavours, so I removed as much of it as I could..
