Shinbashi and Hamamatsucho, salaryman heaven, are full of hidden gems, and there are still plenty I want to try but have not made it to yet. I will just have to clear them one by one.
A place like this
The name is a bit plain. Not that middle-aged guys care about that sort of thing.
Lemon sour
Potato salad
Starting off light.
Spear squid sashimi
When you say Kyushu, you say squid. It has to be see-through to taste right. You eat only the body on top, and they grill the rest for you.
Karaage
Pretty much anything you order here turns out good. Places like this do exist.
Gomasaba
Kyushu means gomasaba. I cannot quite remember whether it really was mackerel, but anyway… eating like this makes me want to go back to Kyushu.
Beer
Grilled squid
It came out nicely grilled.
Motsunabe
This one too, because Kyushu. That rich flavor is superb… the same tripe hot pot tastes clean and sharp when you eat it this way.
Zosui
Finished off with the porridge
Chicken skin gyoza
At the end I was a little short on drink, so I ordered gyoza as well. Down to earth, tasty, exactly the kind of spot middle-aged guys go for. There is still a lot I have not tried, but Hamamatsucho really does seem to be heaven for the old-guy crowd.
