A business tower has gone up right next to Toranomon Hills. Honestly, Toranomon Hills itself was a bit dull, with no real restaurants to speak of, but the new business tower is a different story.
the entrance to Toranomon Hills Business Tower
quite the building they have put up.
Urban Famima!!
a collaboration between a convenience store and a clothing shop.
Toranomon Yokocho
this is the mood at lunchtime. nice and calm.
Toranomon Yokocho
turns out there are a lot of seriously good places in here.
Bird Land
there is a slightly pricey yakitori place too..
Ayuramen Plus
A branch of the ayu ramen shop that is famous in Futako-Tamagawa has opened here. I actually went all the way out to Futako-Tamagawa once to eat this ramen, only to find out that the ayu ramen is dinner-only, and I came home defeated. There was no way I could pass up the chance for a rematch.
the ayu ramen menu
I went for the 1,100-yen Ayu Goto Ramen. There is a half portion on the menu too, but if I am eating it at all I may as well do it properly.
the description
Apparently they put a ginger soba on the menu in autumn. that is one I would like to try.
ayu ramen
The clean, light broth with ginger, the grilled dried ayu and the delicate noodles all came together in a way that felt less like eating ramen and more like eating a well-made Japanese meal.
the noodles
ramen shops these days really do not lack for anything.
the ayu opened up
getting one big whole fish makes it very satisfying. it makes me wonder how anyone came up with a ramen this ingenious.
grilled onigiri
the grilled onigiri has a strong charcoal and ayu flavor, so it is good on its own, but breaking it up into the broth is good too. thanks to that I went way over on carbs.
the yokocho map
there really are a lot of shops.
Katsumoto
this place is a famous one too, so I will have to come back.
memento mori
it just looked pretty..
the first floor of the business tower
La Maison du Chocolat
the Joel Robuchon cafe
I never expected shops of this level to move in..
There is also an upscale supermarket called Fukushimaya down in the basement.
the front of Toranomon Hills
Toranomon has got itself a seriously impressive spot, so I think I will be visiting often.
