Sincerita is a gelato shop in Asagaya, and since I’d heard it was famous all over the country I went to see for myself. Except… before heading there I ended up doing a loop around Daikanyama first.
Daikanyama
Well… nothing much seems to have changed.
Behind Tsutaya Books, the dog garden
I don’t remember this being here before.
Princi
Apparently it’s a bakery that came over from abroad.

A back alley
I came to visit Fujiya Camera, which is in this neighborhood.
Pentax 43 Limited
This is a lens I’ve wanted for ages, and I finally bought one. It’s in near-mint condition and I plan to use it on my Sony A7C, but the adapter has been “coming any day now” for ages and still isn’t out… Shut up and take my money! Back when I was shooting Pentax I always wanted to put the Limited lenses on a full-frame body, but a full-frame camera as light and compact as the one I wanted looked like something Pentax would struggle to develop, so I had given up on the idea. And then. Sony went and released a small full-frame body, and Monster Adapter announced an adapter that lets you use Pentax lenses on Sony cameras. It looks like my wish might come true before I die, so I picked the lens up well in advance. I’d like to get the 77 and the 31 too if they come out in silver, but even so, the 43 is the one I’m looking forward to most, since on a crop body the angle of view was far too tight and I never got a chance to use it.
Taiyaki…
I bought one at Momiji, the place I stop by without fail whenever I’m in this neighborhood. A little palate cleanser…
There’s a place like this here too.
They sell marron pie, apparently… but I had somewhere else to be that day, so I just walked on past.
Gelateria Sincerita
It turned out to be a really lovely place.
Menu
There were so many unusual gelato flavors.

The gelato I ordered
Close-up
I ordered the Mel Noix from the standard flavors and the Marsala from the seasonal ones. The Mel Noix was a milk gelato with pecans in it, nutty and fragrant, while the Marsala was a rich one made with five-year-aged Marsala wine plus mascarpone, coffee and chocolate. It had been a long time since I’d had gelato with flavors this distinct and this good.

It was so good here that now I want to try the other flavors too. I come to Asagaya often for all sorts of reasons anyway, so either another visit will come up or I can just order it by delivery.
