A review of the things I bought at convenience stores and supermarkets.
Saekom Dalkom Bibim Noodles
At my age I only learned this from YouTube, but Paldo Bibimmyeon is spicy. And it turns out non-spicy bibim noodles exist in this world. So I’ve been working my way through a few of the non-spicy ones, and this one isn’t spicy either, which makes it easy to eat. To think I’m only finding out now..
Eoreum Naengmyeon
For something you throw together this quickly it wasn’t bad at all.. Chilgap Nongsan seem to know what they are doing.
Jeju Garlic Ramyeon
A cup ramyeon with a genuinely huge amount of garlic in it. I do like garlic, but this one comes with so much garlic heat that I wondered whether they had gone too far.
Shin Ramyun Black Dubu Kimchi
It tastes nothing like regular Shin Ramyun. A deluxe version of kimchi yukgaejang, maybe.. Well, I like kimchi yukgaejang, so I liked this one too.
Potato Chip, egg toast flavour
Oddly enough, this one really does taste like street toast. It was so uncanny that it surprised me. It doesn’t taste the way a potato chip should, but I’d say it is number one among the potato chips that have come out lately.
Matsogeum seasoned salt popcorn
With seasoned salt in the name I expected something salty, but it wasn’t like that at all: not harsh, not soggy, and perfectly snackable.
Every now and then I just get a craving for Ansungtangmyun..
Ever since Shin Ramyun, ramyeon has got far too spicy.. It’s a back-in-my-day thing to say, but I do feel like things were better around this time.
Gim bugak
JAJU’s gim bugak is pretty good. I bought it several more times after this.
Yeol Ramyun + sundubu
Someone (on YouTube) said that Yeol Ramyun is delicious with sundubu added, so I ran the experiment, and honestly I couldn’t really tell. You may as well just make sundubu-jjigae..
