Grand Hyatt Incheon, a hotel near Incheon Airport

Instead of a summer trip we decided on a hotel staycation, and I looked around all over, but there was hardly anywhere that fit what we wanted. After a lot of picking and choosing we ended up at the Grand Hyatt Incheon. Of course it had to be the day we went: the monorail that normally runs from the airport to the hotel was stopped because of a typhoon. And even trying to take a taxi, maybe because the distance is an awkward one, catching one was genuinely hard and we were stuck.. Anyway, after all that palaver we arrived before check-in..

It isn’t that far, but getting there by public transport turned out to be hard.. Most people must drive..

The hotel’s club lounge

Hyatt’s club lounges have a great reputation because the service is excellent. You can check in at the lounge, and you can have meals and refreshments there too. The space is big and the view is good, and yet only a limited number of guests get to use it. I was impressed myself this time.. I’d actually booked the hotel with breakfast included, but the food was barely different from what you get in the lounge.. Next time I’ll just do everything in the lounge..

The view is great.

The quality isn’t bad at all.

All the basics were there.

At this level, well.. what more could you ask for..

The food

I didn’t get photos of everything, but it was pretty generous.

The breakfast buffet

The range was definitely wider than in the lounge.

You could feel an American style in the ingredients. Times like this are when you have to eat plenty..

The staircase

I’ve skipped a lot of the detail, and the hotel does feel a bit old (the facilities are just so-so..), but for going with family it definitely has charms no other hotel can match. Even if we go again, I have a feeling we’ll end up staying at the Hyatt. (And for the sightseeing, Paradise..)
