The first gimbap I ever made
It takes time, but it is not hard to make. Most of the ingredients are sold at the supermarket and you can watch the whole process on YouTube. Still, rolling the gimbap is a skill that takes a few tries to get used to.. I think I will do better the second time..
Yotsuba cheese
A seriously rare item, and I got it through a group buy. Put it on a slice of bread and the cheese flavor is incredible..
Mandu at Lin Gongzi Myeonkwan in Daerim
Turns out this is the only thing on the menu you can take out. It tastes good, but there is something like an aged flavor to it. The wrapper is delicious. There is not much filling and the seasoning is strong. In other words, it feels more like a substitute for a bowl of rice.
Mul-naengmyeon at the Pyongyang naengmyeon place in Nonhyeon
You have to have it at least once a year.
A vegetable slicer
I bought it on Amazon Japan and it is pretty good. The key point is that you can slice safely. Then I went to E-Mart and found a cheaper one there.. though I do not like that one’s design..
Pasta at Cicci Fantastico in Hamamatsucho
The pasta at this place is normally not good… but I went on a weekend, when it costs a bit more, and the food gets better to match.. Could you not do this much on weekdays too..
Budae-jjigae yukgaejang at Ihwasoo Yukgaejang in Gangnam
This place is pretty good. The service is good too. It confirmed for me that franchises are at a high level these days..
Soybean broth
They sell it at GS Mart, it is cheap and it tastes fine. I think kongguksu was what I ate most this summer. I had even planned to buy the soybean broth from a famous kongguksu place, but with how busy I was, the mart right by the house turned out to be the best after all..
IKEA’s new menu items
They added a mango waffle cone and a pizza, but the pizza was nothing special.. For pizza it is Costco after all.. At IKEA it is the hot dog.. The waffle cone was tasty though..
Budae-jjigae at Geumseong Steak
I was not used to it so I let the ramyeon noodles boil a little too long, but it was a decent budae-jjigae. I do not think I would go out of my way to go back though…
Naju gomtang in Yeoksam
It is a place I used to like, but eating there again, the quality of the meat is not what it used to be. The mandu was good.
Artisan Bakers in Yeoksam
Artisan Bakers was a famous spot in Hannam-dong, and now there is a branch in Yeoksam.. The atmosphere was seriously stylish. Is Yeoksam-dong on its way up..
Myeongnan gyeran-jjim at Bon Grill
Hannam Doiji, the place that pushed aged pork, has changed its name to Bon Grill. Well.. the pork is as good now as it was back then. I ordered the myeongnan gyeran-jjim, steamed egg with pollack roe, and there was plenty of roe in it, so I was happy. And meat always tastes best on the company card..
