It seems a street called Sharosu-gil has sprung up between Nakseongdae and Seoul National University Station.. back when I was at university I never imagined a place like that would appear here.. anyway.. walking around, there are plenty of nice-looking places, but the only sort I felt like going into was a traditional sundaeguk place.

The entrance

The vibe is the kind of place hikers coming down off Gwanaksan would pack into, I suppose.. the sundae set meal is 15,000 won, and since it comes with a bit of everything it is worth ordering. If you cannot finish it they will pack it up for you. It is a little pricier than the sundae set meal at other places, but if it tastes good, who cares..

The spread

Pretty standard.

Sundae

There is almost no seonji (congealed blood) in it and the vegetable content is high. The quality is good, but I prefer the kind with seonji in it. Either way, it was easy to eat.

Sundaeguk

I think I asked for it without dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste). It came loaded with sesame seeds.

What is inside

No off-flavours, plenty of substance to it, a high-level sundaeguk. The world is wide and there is a lot of good sundaeguk out there.

The market

Good for shopping too.. I can see myself coming back often. I found a decent greengrocer (selling at half what most places charge..) and I have been back to this neighbourhood several times since. Just stopping at the greengrocer alone covers the fare.

Scenery

When I was at school I had no idea what was even around here, but there turned out to be a lot of fun places.
