I stopped by Otsuka for a daytime drink. Isomaru Suisan is a famous chain all over Japan. I didn’t expect much, but it wasn’t bad at all.

The small plates look tiny, but keep picking at them and you end up full and tipsy anyway…

The broth was really rich.

It was just so-so.

Hamaguri clams as a hangover cure…

Not top-tier, but great value for money. That’s why it’s so popular, I guess.

Fugu karaage

I don’t think I’ve ever had bad fugu karaage anywhere I’ve ordered it. It’s basically a cheat code.

We ate and drank all this for about 5,000 yen for two, and they even took cards. It’s been a while since I went somewhere that isn’t a famous spot, but I came away pretty satisfied… The world really is getting better.
