Menya Hanabi is an unusual place.. they made their name selling Taiwan-style mazesoba in Nagoya, then set up their Korean main branch on Songnidan-gil and opened this branch in Sinsa-dong.. Well.. as long as it tastes good, none of that really matters, does it..

I hear the line at the main branch is long, but the Sinsa branch doesn’t seem that bad.

What makes it feel truly Japanese is that it’s spicy, yet not that spicy! Exactly the level of heat I like. The toppings are good, but the sauce is a work of art.

Noodles

They felt slightly short on chewiness, but for Korea this is more than satisfying.

Mix it all up..

Asked for rice to go with the leftover noodles

And mix that up well too.

A day of some seriously hearty carb-loading.
