We decided to get together for the first time in a while at a friend’s place in Yokohama. Everyone brought the gyoza they swear by, and we did a side-by-side tasting. Living in Japan, you end up doing themed parties like this fairly often…
The giant gyoza from Ginza Tenryu
Look at the size of these things.
The booze of the day
Kavalan Solist Port Cask… It’s a seriously high-end whisky, but port casks just aren’t my thing. Sherry is still the champ…
Avocado salad
For our health…
Iga natural spring water, strong sparkling lemon
Iga, as some of you will know, is the name of the ninja village. I wasn’t expecting much, but it was pretty good.
Today’s cognac
A pretty decent cognac.
Sou-san’s gyoza
It’s a gyoza place in Yoyogi, and the level was seriously high. We agreed to go visit the shop itself with friends next time.
Palate-cleanser pasta
Made by our resident pasta master…
One more cognac…
My friend’s place has so much good booze that we really cleaned them out…
Pasta
We ate well and had a great time. A get-together like this every now and then is pretty nice.
