Taketora in Toranomon

I heard there was a restaurant in Toranomon famous for its rice, so I dropped by. Apparently the line is always long, but maybe because I got there late, it wasn’t that bad this time.

Fried sardine set meal

taketora

At first glance it looks like a perfectly ordinary set meal…

Rice

taketora

This rice was seriously on another level. It’s the kind of taste that keeps you eating, as if it had been sprinkled with sugar… I usually don’t eat much rice because I’m dieting, but here I had no choice but to finish every last grain.

Fried sardines

The side dishes are just average. The portions are a little on the small side too… but still, I think I get why this place is so popular.

When the rice is good you end up eating a lot of rice, and when the drinks are good you end up drinking a lot. Isn’t that the dilemma of life? It makes me think that, for the sake of my health, I ought to go out of my way to find bad-tasting food to eat.
