Nodaiwa, the Famous Unagi House by Shiba Park, and the Bakery Le Pain Quotidien

A friend of mine who is a professor in Korea came over to Tokyo for a conference. We wondered where to go and settled on a good unagi place.

The hashioki, the chopstick rest, is cute. It is shaped like an eel.

Nodaiwa is a place with a long tradition. They have a fair number of branches, so I figured they must be doing well. Once there, the atmosphere turned out to be really nice. For a lunch in the 3,000 yen range, if the atmosphere is this good there is nothing more to ask for.

Clear soup

nodaiwa

The taste, well, goes without saying.

Eel

nodaiwa

It just melts in your mouth. The rice is good too. I think this is the essence of Kanto-style grilled eel. It seems like a place you could bring anyone to without a second thought.

Side dishes

After a good meal we got up and moved on to Le Pain Quotidien for dessert.

Well.. it goes without saying that Le Pain Quotidien is good. My friend liked it too.

Ordered it for my health..
