Here is a quick roundup of the things I had for lunch.
Ramen at Tenko
It is a ramen shop with an unusual concept, where a lady in a kimono welcomes you in, but the ramen itself is just so-so.. She does have a lovely voice, though.
Watermelon
I took a photo because the illustration was so pretty.
Kaisendon at Sushi Tanuki
A kaisendon with superb freshness. No wonder it is popular.
Soup curry
I think I had this in Omotesando. It tasted pretty good.
Stir-fried liver at Mihosai
This place is known for its spicy food, but this one felt a little lacking, I would say.
Roast beef don
It is the signature dish of a place called Yakiniku Kokokara. The quality of the meat is not exceptional, but the portion is overwhelming.
Beef skirt steak don at Motsufuku
Not bad, but the portion was slightly on the small side.
Braised pork belly don at Yogozansu
It is a shabby old izakaya, but the lunch is good value for money.
Spicy stewed beef tendon curry at Horumon-yaki Kato
At night they sell grilled offal, and at lunchtime they sell traditional Nepalese curry, which is seriously spicy, un-Japanese-ly so. It seems to draw mostly hardcore fans. It tasted great, but it was a bit of a shame that you cannot add extra meat..
Nikomi set meal at Yakiton Tetchan
My appetite has shrunk lately, so instead of the yakitori don I tried the nikomi set meal. This much is plenty for me.
Omurice, hamburg steak and more at Musashiya in Shimbashi
They call it the taste of the Showa era, and it is not bad. There is a long line every day at lunchtime, and now I understand why. For 750 yen you get a big omurice with Napolitan spaghetti thrown in, so the value is outstanding, but it really is way too many carbs. This visit satisfied my curiosity, so I doubt I will be going back.
