I’d been to Sushi Ishijima once before, for the 1,500-yen lunch. Nigiri sushi for 1,500 yen was ridiculous value. This time I tried the omakase set.
Isaki (chicken grunt), I think..
The rice is reddish, red-vinegar shari.
Akami (lean tuna)
Otoro (fatty tuna)
Kohada (gizzard shad)
Miso soup
Ika (squid)
Tamago (egg)
The tamago comes out in the middle of the meal..
Uni (sea urchin)
was nice too..
Maki roll
The order jumps around a bit, but it’s delicious, so who cares.
Anago (sea eel)
I think this was the most memorable thing I ate that day.
Maguro (tuna)
For 4,000 yen you get a decent spread of sushi.
A Ginza back alley
At night this alley is lined with waiting taxis, but in the daytime it’s quiet.
Udon at Nanakura
Round one was on the light side, so I went off for round two.
Donburi
Tasty. Though I think I went a bit over my capacity.
