Surprisingly, central Tokyo doesn’t have many places where you can do both shopping and sightseeing on a weekend. In that respect Asakusa is probably the best. There’s a Seiyu, a Muji and a Uniqlo, plus the Skytree and Kappabashi, so you can get pretty much everything done.
Tempura soba
This is the standard order here. If it’s your first time, go with this, no question.

Even the kettle they use has a certain presence.
After a good meal I wandered around the neighbourhood.
Taiyaki from Sharaku
The taiyaki here is good. While I was at it I also picked up some daigaku-imo (candied sweet potato) from Chibaya next door.
