A bunch of things came up and it got late, but I was too hungry to just head home, so I ducked into a ramen shop in Shinbashi. Shinbashi has plenty of famous ramen places, but among the ones you can still go to after midnight, that is, after the last train is gone, Horiuchi had the best reviews.

Looks like they have other branches too. The inside is a bit shabby but roomy, and it was full of all sorts of salaryman types.
Natto ramen
I’d been craving natto for a while, so I gave it a try.
Noodles
The clean shoyu-based broth goes really well with the natto. That’s Shinbashi for you: the good places are just good. I’d love to explore more when I get the time, but there’s this nagging pressure to lose some of the belly fat first…
