Pho Chi Minh at D Tower, Gwanghwamun

I’d long heard that Emoi in Jongno was good, and then I heard that Pho Chi Minh in Gwanghwamun was decent too. I picked a day and went, and I had no idea D Tower was such a nice place. Glad I made the trip.

The view

The view from bills is no joke.

Terraced layout

pochimin

The space is really well designed. When Pimatgol was torn down I never imagined it would turn into this, but with the redevelopment it feels like the Gwanghwamun area is about to really take off..

Pho Chi Minh

pochimin

Pho Chi Minh is tucked into a corner on the 5th floor.

Cha gio

pochimin

Very ordinary.

Honey garlic shrimp

pochimin

I was picturing the garlic shrimp I’d had in Hawaii, but what came out was a very sweet dish, which threw me a bit. Conclusion: nothing special about the sides..

Beef pho

pochimin

But the broth of the pho is really delicious. They bring cilantro on the side, and adding it made it even better. It’s the kind of place I’d come back to just for the pho.
