There is a makguksu place near Eulwangni. It sits on the West Sea, yet it goes by the name Donghae Makguksu, which means East Sea. I made a point of going out there at the height of the summer heat, and the seaside really is cooler. In the city the heat has nowhere to escape, but by the sea you feel fine as long as you stay in the shade.

It is behind Incheon Airport, near Eulwangni Beach, and it is a quick drive if you just punch it into the sat-nav. I got there right at opening time, and cars kept pulling in one after another. Being summer, the place was absolutely booming.

Makguksu

Like at Veteran Kalguksu, there was far too much seaweed and sesame on it, and the noodles were low on buckwheat, which was a bit of a letdown, but the flavor itself is the kind of style that appeals to the crowds.

If you do not expect too much, and you just want a cold bowl of noodles on a hot day, it is a decent spot. The prices, too, considering this is a tourist area, are refreshingly reasonable for these days. A short trip to the sea, well spent.
